14094 complaints received by grievances cell in a span of 10 months

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) Ever since its inception in January this year, Delhi Government's Public Grievance Cell on Power has recieved an overwhelming 14094 complaints from the public related to the electricity problems ''The platform of the Public Grievances Cell is being used by thousands of people to get their complaints solved. The people are appreciating this initiative. Whether it is resolving of the power failure and billing complaints or testing of electronic meters, the results have been found satisfactory,''said Principal Secretary (Power) in the Delhi Government Rakesh Mehta.

Since its inception on January 29, the Public Grievances Cell, established by the Delhi Government's Department of Power, has received 14094 complaints, of which 12332 complaints have been resolved to the satisfaction of the aggrieved consumers, which amounts to 87.49 per cent of the total complaints received.

On the basis of nature, complaints have been distributed in 35 categories.

The Public Grievances Cell has also taken up the job of getting the electronic meters tested in association with Central Power Research Institute (CPRI).

Under the scheme, any consumer can get his meter tested after paying a nominal fees of Rs 50. The rest of the expenses are borne by the government.

A total number of 656 applications have been received for meter testing (BRPL-366, BYPL-146 and NDPL-144). Out of the total applications received, 555 meters have been tested and only 15 have been found beyond the permissible limit.
