Rs 14 lakh hawala money for HM recovered in J-K

Srinagar, Nov 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have recovered Rs 14 lakh hawala money for Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).

Station House Officer (SHO) Shaheed Gunj and inspector Aijaz Ahmad said a police party, acting on a specific information, intercepted a Tata Sumo at Jehangir Chowk, near here.

During the search of the vehicle, Rs 14 lakh were recovered from the driver, Javid Ahmad Rather.

Rather, a resident of Tral, later admitted that the money was for HM for carrying out militant activities in the valley.

The SHO said FIR number 105/2007, Under Section 16, 20, 40 of Unlawful Activities Act, 120, 121(A) RPC was registered in police station Shaheed Gunj.

He said further investigations in this regard has been taken up and some more sensational disclosures and arrests are expected.
