Researcher at IISc 'ends life'
Bangalore, Nov 21 (UNI) A girl research student at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, hailing from Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, allegedly committed suicide, making it the second such incident this year.
Chitra R (32), doing research on 'Non-Equilibrium Processing of Nanomaterial'' at IISc's Materials Engineering Department, allegedly consumed poison on board a bus, while returning to her home from Bangalore on November 19.
Chitra, who reportedly boarded a KSRTC bus from the Kempegowda bus station here collapsed when the bus reached Hosur Road in Tamil Nadu.
Though the bus crew rushed her to a private hospital, she was referred to Victoria Hospital, where she died.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Chitra, the daughter of a retired college lecturer in Cuddalore, had been a resident student on the IISc campus for the last four years.
