College principal shot dead, teacher injured

Jyotiba Phulenagar, Nov 21 (UNI) A college principal was today shot dead, while another teacher was severely injured, following a dispute over promotion of a fourth class employee in Amroha town of the district.

J S Hindu Inter College principal Dr Radheyshyam Tapan (55) had promoted peon Ravi Prakash Shukla as clerk two years ago, police said.

Few days ago, Ravi was again demoted as peon, owing to which, he and another employee Sushil Kumar, shot at the principal and a teacher Ali Naqvi inside the college precincts.

While Dr Tapan succumbed, Naqvi sustained severe injuries in the incident and was admitted to hospital.

A search to nab the absconding killers had been launched.
