125 'bighas' land freed from land shark

Muzaffarnagar, Nov 21 (UNI) Under the ongoing drive against land mafias, the authorities today ''freed'' 125 'bighas' agricultural land from the clutches of Samajwadi Party leader and former legislator Jagat Singh in Thana Bhawan area here.

Kairana SDM D P Singh said standing sugarcane crop on 50 'bighas' of the freed land had been auctioned for Rs 81,000.

Meanwhile, the encroacher had also been directed to give up the possession on the remaining land within three days, Mr Singh added.
