Canon to add 2,000 stores; to spend Rs 100 cr on on ads by 2008
New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Digital imaging company Canon India Pvt Ltd today said it will open 2,000 new outlets across the country, besides shelling out about Rs 100 crore on marketing and promotional activities by the end of next year.
''We will increase our stores to 6,000 from existing 4,000 and spend about Rs 100 crore on marketing and promotional activities by 2008-end,'' company's President and CEO Kensaku Konishi told reporters here.
Meanwhile, the firm, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd, will open six exclusive showrooms, spanning about 3,000 square feet per store in major cities next year, starting with it's first showroom in Gurgaon.
Beginning with Gurgaon, the company will open our exclusive showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai, Mr Konishi said.
Canon also plans to increase its headcount to 700 by 2008-end from the present 520 employees.
''We will undertake a major recruitment drive to tap skilled and trained workforce to undertake key job roles and responsibilities in the organisation,'' said Mr Konishi.
