Assembly adjourned after paying homage to Babasaheb Bhosale

Nagpur, Nov 19 (UNI) The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was today adjourned on the first day of the winter session after paying homage to former Chief Minister Babasaheb Bhosale and other former members of the House, who have passed away.

The proceedings were adjourned after members from both sides of the House paid glowing tributes to Mr Bhosale and former Deputy Chief Minister Ramrao Adik, besides former members Sitaram Sakharam Sawant, Balwantrao Amrutrao Chavan, Yeshwant Mansaram Borole and Shaligram Ramratan Dixit, who expired in the inter-session period, and Maltibai Wamanrao Joshi, who died on May 1, 2002.

The members observed a two-minute silence as a mark of tribute to the departed souls.

Earlier, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh moved the condolence resolution and also the resolution to adjourn the proceedings for the day as a mark of tribute to Mr Bhosale.

Those who paid tributes to the late former members were Datta Nalawade, Dagdu Sapkal (both Shiv Sena), Eknath Khadse, Dilip Yedgaonkar (both BJP), Ganpatrao Deshmukh (PWP), Narsayya Adam (CPM), Wamanrao Chatap (SBP), Dattu Anna Patil, Madhukar Pichad, Annie Shekhar (all Congress) and Dilip Bansod (NCP). Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar also paid tributes to the departed souls.

Earlier, the proceedings of the winter session began with a recitation of the 'Vande Mataram.' UNI
