Kerala: Hawala money seized, 10 held

Kalpatta, Nov 18: Kerala police today seized unaccounted hawala money from a private bus at Muthanga on Kerala-Karnataka border today and nabbed ten people in this connection.

Acting on a tip off, a police team seized more than Rs one crore from the accused who were coming from Bangalore, at a checkpost, police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were carrying the currency for distribution among their clients in Kannur, Kozhikode and Manjeri in Malappuram district. One of them, Mayichiram is a native of Rajasthan.

The arrested passengers and currency will be handed over to the Enforcement Directorate, police added.
