NGO's release manifesto of vulnerables in HP
Shimla, Nov 18 (UNI) A group of NGO's today released the ''manifesto by the vulnerables'' and asked all political parties of Himachal Pradesh to adopt it.
Addressing mediapersons here, Social Uplift Through Rural Action (SUTRA) president Subhash Mendhapurkar and Ekal Naree Shakti Sangathan spokesman Nirmal said the manifesto demands the formulation of a policy for single woman based on the principles of inclusiveness and address all problems of widows, divorces, women deserted by their in-laws and whose husbands have gone missing.
The single women who belonged to the poorer sections of the society and were willing to become ''self employee kisan'', should be given two acres of land on long term lease, besides reserving all peripheral jobs in public sector on the pattern of Haryana, they said.
It also demanded no control over the panchayats by the Rural Development Department and decentralisation of funds, functions and functionaries to them, the construction of nyaya panchayats in the villages at par with district courts.
Besides, it sought suspension of the doctors who refer the medical cases to the private institutions and to declare Himachal as the demographically challenged state and to redirect all its energy in creating gender balance in sex ratio.
It said they would support that party in the assembly elections that promise to implement their manifesto as Ekal Naree Shakti Sangathans, spread over seven districts and 22 development blocks of the state, had a membership of about 5,500 women, which was enough to influence the election results of various assembly constituencies.
