Sonepat, Nov 18 (UNI) Rail traffic remained disrupted between Delhi and Panipat on the Delhi-Ambala section for about 12 hours following derailment of a dozen bogies of a goods train near the local railway station this morning.

The train loaded with coal derailed at around 0500 hours. The coal was being transported for the Panipat Thermal Plant .

According to railway sources as a result of the derailment, around 16 Mail and Express trains originating from Delhi were diverted through other routes to their respective destinations. All local passenger trains were also suspended for the day.

The Himalayan Queen and Shane-e-Punjab originating from Delhi were cancelled.

A number of trains bound for Delhi on this section were also diverted from Ambala and Panipat via Saharanpur and Rohtak .

A railway team from Delhi alongwith cranes reached the derailment spot and operation to lift the derailed bogies as well as repair of the track was in full swing when last reports came in.
