WMC demands CBI probe into killing of MRF Exports Manager

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) The Indian Chapter of World Malayalee Council (WMC) has demanded a CBI probe into the killing of retired MRF Exports Manager P A Jacob and his wife Mony Jacob, this day last year.

Talking to reporters here last night, WMC Global Chairman and brother of deceased Jacob Andrew Pappachen said even one year after the cold-blooded killings, police were yet to arrest the a culprits and crack the case.

He said the case was handled by the city police for nine months before it was transferred to the Central Crime Branch. ''But still no breakthrough has been made.'' The council urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to recommend a CBI probe into the killings.

The WMC, which had filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking a CBI probe, was also planning to meet the Chief Minister in this regard.

With a view to exerting political pressure, the WMC had already drawn the attention of Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly Oomen Chandy urging them to take up the matter with Mr Karunanidhi.

The killing of the couple on November 17 last year, came to light three days after the incident when police traced an abandoned car near Padappai.
