Swine fever claims 109 pigs in Mizoram

Aizawl, Nov 17 (UNI) Swine fever has killed 109 pigs in Hortoki village since the past five months deu to veterinary department's failure to provide sufficient anti-swine vaccine, according to MLA Sailothanga Sailo.

The pig farmer association of the village had appealed to the state government to arrange for a medical team in July itself after the outbreak of the disease. But no action had been taken, Mr Sailothanga alleged.

The MLA has urged the authority to take immediate steps to contain the disease.
