Runway collision averted at TN airport

Coimbatore, Nov 17 (UNI) Employees at the Peelamedu Airport here averted a collision on the runway between an Air Deccan flight and a Spice Jet aircraft this morning.

Airport officials told UNI here that the Air Deccan flight, with 175 passengers on board, was at the parking bay. The employees were loading cargo onto it.

Meanwhile, a Spice Jet with 130 passengers on board, started moving towards the runway from the adjoining parking bay. Unmindful of the AIR Deccan flight being stranded at the parking bay, the pilot veered the aircraft to the runway, bringing the wings of both the flights to a near-collision limits.

Foreseeing the danger, employees loading the cargo, shouted and alerted the pilot.

Both the flights resumed the services after suffering a detention of one hour.
