'Delhi Chalo' rally to protect Ram Sethu from Dec 30

Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) A conference of heads of various Hindu 'Mutts', organised by the Ram Sethu Protection Committee and attended by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President Pravin Togadia, today announced a massive ''Delhi Chalo'' rally on December 30 to protect the Ram Sethu.

Talking to mediapersons here, after the meeting, Mr Togadia said, ''In continuation of our agitation, the Ram Sethu Protection Committee will organise nation-wide 'Ram Sethu Shila Rath Yatra' from November 20 to December 10 to protect Ram Sethu.'' The 'Yatra' would cover every village and nook and cranny of the country and it would be led by 'Dharmacharyas' and 'Sadhus'. More than 15 lakh people were expected to participate in the rally in Delhi.

''We will use all the democratic means to protect the Ram Sethu,'' he added.

Earlier, the conference passed a resolution demanding declaration of Ram Sethu as a National Monument. ''Ram Sethu is a symbol of the Nation and it should be protected at any cost,'' it added.

The conference, attended by the Mutt heads, 'Paramacharyas' and religious scholars of South India, was organised to decide on the action plan to safeguard the Ram Sethu.
