Kolkata, Nov 17 (UNI) CPI (ML-Liberation) general secretary Deepankar Bhattacharyya today dubbed the CPI(M) as "betrayers" for deviating from their stand on the Nuke and stressed on forming a strong political alternative in West Bengal to counter the ruling party.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr Bhattacharyya said, " We have already embarked on forming a Left alternative in the state. While we will hold discussion in this regard with RSP state secretary Debabrata Biswas tonight itself, we will have our discussion with seniormost Forward Bloc leader Ashok Ghosh after his recovery. " He made it clear that Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had no moral right to be in the post, particularly after yesterday's Calcutta High Court verdict on March 14 Nandigram firing, and the spontaneous participation of common masses in the intellectuals' rally to denounce what happened in the strife-torn area.

Mr Bhattacharyya gave a clarion call to all for launching a concerted movement against the CPI(M)-led government and said it was high time for a strong Left alternative.

He lamented the degradation of the Left and said the slogan "Better Left Front" had got a severe beating.

He called upon the constituents to come out from the Front government immediately to pave the way for an alternative front.

Casting aspersion on Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's call for a secular democratic front in the state, he said this front could not be secular in nature as it would comprise the BJP.

He said the party congress would take place here from December 10 to 18.
