Sarabha, Ludhiana, Nov 17 (UNI) Reiterating his commitment for making agriculture a remunerative venture, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal stressed upon the Centre to link the procurement prices of agriculture produce with the Consumer Price Index.

This would end the need for the farming community to look towards piecemeal concessions like small installments of bonus, Mr Badal said yesterday while addressing a rural gathering at a prize distribution function of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Memorial Sports Tournament.

Mr Badal said the Union Government should constitute a high level panel to look into the over all rising costs of production of the agriculture produce and to suggest the measure for deciding remunerative prices to the farmers, as at present the farming community was completely ruined with the heavy burden of debts.

Mr Badal said his government had decided to open one Adarsh Model School to be set up in each constituency, where quality education would be provided.

Besides, three Senior Secondary Schools in each constituency would be set up equipped with all facilities and competent staff.

Paying his tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Mr Badal said he was the youngest martyr, who sacrificed his life at the age of 19 years. He said that this brave son of the country, had joined Gaddar party in America and returned to India to lead the revolution against the British rulers. Mr Badal said that Sarabha had been the source of inspiration for the other young patriots of the country including Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Referring to the demands of the village, Mr Badal assured the early completion of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Memorial and handed over a cheuqe of Rs 25 lakh to Deputy Commissioner for immediate resumption of work.
