3 of family attempt suicide, 2 die

Surat, Nov 17 (UNI) A father and a daughter died when a family of three attempted suicide by consuming poison in Varachcha Road area of the city here last evening, police said today.

The deceased have been identified as Kailash Lashkari (30) and his daughter Rinkal (3), while his wife Kavita (27) is battling for her life in a civil hospital.

According to the police, Kailash and Rinkal were declared brought dead by the hospital sources while Kavita was admitted in the emergency ward and her condition was stated to be serious.

The family was under severe financial burden which led them to take such an extreme step, sources said. Kailash and Kavita consumed poison after making their daughter consume poison at their home in Kohinoor society.

The unusual condition of the family was first noticed by their neighbour when the trio started to vomit, following which they were rushed to the civil hospital.

The post-mortem revealed that Kailash and Rinkal had died due to consumption of poison.

Police has registered a case of suicide and further investigations are on.
