Woman robbed of 22 sovereigns of gold

Chennai, Nov 16 (UNI) An auto driver robbed a woman passenger of 22 sovereigns of gold ornaments near the airport here today.

Police said the incident occurred when Jayanthi (32), wife of a building contractor, took an auto from Chrompet after taking her jewels from a bank locker. On the way, the driver suddenly asked her to get down near the airport, snatched her jewels, worth Rs 1.8 lakh, and fled the scene.
