Centre to get report from UP on JeM militants arrest, plans

New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Centre today sought a factual report from the Uttar Pradesh Goverment about the arrest of three Jaish-e-Mohammed fidayeens who were reportedly planning to kidnap a VVIP politician to press for the release of 42 terrorists including Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal.

''The home ministry is in touch with the Uttar Pradesh government and has obtained factual details of the incident,''Home Ministry sources said here.

Regarding the militants reportedly planning to kidnap a VVIP like Rahul Gandhi or anyone else, these are all matters of investigation the state police, they said.

''However, we are happy that the militants were arrested and any such plot was foiled before it could be executed they added.'' Asked about the media reports over Intelligence Bureau unearthing an alleged plot of some militants planning to kidnap Robert Vadra, son in law of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, they refused to comment saying that such IB reports were secret and couldnot be divulged.

Meanwhile, the IB has reportedly sent a report to the Home Ministry regarding this. Mr Vadra at present enjoys Z+ security but in view of such threat to his life it could be further upgraded and he may be provided with SPG cover.
