Govt decides to allocate Lanco Infratech coal mines in Orissa

New Delhi, Nov 15 (UNI) The flagship of Hyderabad-based Lanco Group Lanco Infratech Ltd today said the government has decided to jointly allocate it and five other companies coal blocks in Orissa.

The coal reserves would enable the company it to set up a power plant with a generating capacity of 1,000 MW. The allocation of Rampia and DIP side of Rampia non-coking coal blocks in Orissa would beef up the capacity augmentation plans of Lanco, company statement said.

Currently, the company operates 518 MW of power generating capacities and implements power projects having cumulative capacities to the extent of around 3,500 MW.

Lanco has already initiated action to develop another 7,500 MW plus capacities, including 1000 MW brown-field expansion at its Amarkantak Power Project and Kondapalli Gas Power Project and 6,500 MW plus 0Greenfield projects in Orissa, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh which are in various stages of development.

The government has requested the allottees to decide on the modalities for the allotment and operation of the mine in a month's time, the statement added.
