Police prepared to deal with industrial unrest: Orissa DGP

Angul, Nov 14 (UNI) Orissa Director General of Police (DGP) Gopal Nanda here today said the law and order problems relating to industrialisation in the state will be dealt with all preparedness.

Talking to newsmen during his first visit to the district after he assumed charge as DGP, Mr Nanda said police would increase its strength to tackle any emerging law and order situation.

The DGP said a large number of vacancy in the police department was acting as a stumbling block for the police to discharge their duties efficiently adding that steps were being taken to fill up these vacancies at the earliest.

He ruled out setting up of any internal vigilance cell in police department to curb corruption stating that there was no need for it as Police Superintendents have the powers to combat corruption in the department in their districts.

The DGP also ruled out formation of police commissionerate system in Anugul-Talcher industrial belt and reorganisation of police range in near future.
