MHS launches heart centre to cater to southern states
Bangalore, Nov 14 (UNI) Manipal Health Systems (MHS) today launched Manipal Heart Inistitute, a comprehensive, region-wide heart care programme with widest spectrum of medical expertise for all age and all forms of heart diseases.
MHS Managing Director R Basil told reporters here that the Hospital has been working for the last one year to gather some of the best doctors from India and abroad to offer comprehensive heart care comparable to the best hospitals in the world.
"As part of phase one intiatives, 27 heart emergency centres will soon be opened across Tamil Nadu Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka," he said.
According an estimation, Karnataka alone could have over two lakh people requiring tertiary care intervention right now, where as in entire South India, the number could go beyond five lakh, he said.
Mr Basil said that given the magnitude of the situation MHS plan to take heart care to the door steps of the people of the region by launching an out-reach programme that would enable people living in the urban, semi urban and rural areas of the southern states to access quality care through caridiac OPD clincis, telemedicines facilities, heart emergency centres and mobile care vans.
