Temple looted of Rs 2.70 lakh; priest seriously injured

Anand (Gujarat), Nov 13 (UNI) Gold ornaments worth Rs 2.70 lakh, and cash of Rs 70,000 were robbed by six men from Rachhodji Temple at Malataj village, about 20 kms from here, early today.

According to police sources, the gang members, all in their 20's, decamped after robbing the ornaments, and cash from the temple.

The temple's guard Rambhai and priest Balmukunddas Maharaj were beaten up by the gang.

The Priest, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to a civil hospital at Karamsad town.

Police have registered a case of robbery against the six unidentified persons and a hunt has been launched to track them down.
