Saudi Group plans to enter IT, Hospitality sectors in TN

Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) Saudi Arabia-based Batterjee Group, has chalked out a major plan to make A foray into Information Technology and Hospitality sectors in Tamil Nadu at an investment of US Dollar 25 million each.

Talking to newspersons here today, company Vice Chairman Sheikh Mazen Mohammed Batterjee said, as a first step the group planned to set-up a high-tech plant in Coimbatore, to manufacture their leading baby product brand 'Nunu', at an estimated cost of US dollar 25 million.

"Our group is hoping for a billing of Rs 20 crore from the baby care products during the first year of operations at the all India level", he claimed.

Mr Batterjee said Nanu meaning the new born in Arabic, was one of the leading baby care brands in West Asia and Nanu range of products were sold in over 37 countries.

"We are focusing on India as a major outlet for Nanu brand of baby care products", he said.

Mr Batterjee said "our group has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Lloyd Steel India for the manufacture of various steel products at an investment of US Dollar 80 million, which was expected to bring the Batterjee group in the forefront of Saudi Steel Industry".

The group has also tied-up with Mumbai-based Unitech group for Logistics operations in Saudi Arabia, he said adding the project planned to introduce 200 trucks initially, before scaling up the operations.

The project was expected to have an investment of US Dollar 50 million, he added.
