Police exchange fire with naxalites in Karntaka

Udupi, Nov 13 (UNI) Two naxalites were suspected to have been injured in an exchange of fire between the outlaws and a party of Anti Naxalite Force (ANF) policemen in the forest area under Shankaranarayana police limit in the district today.

According to the top police sources, six armed naxalites including two women were spotted in the thick forest area during the combing operations early this morning.

When asked to surrender the insurgents fired at the police which was repulsed. During the exchange of fire, two naxalites were suspected to be injured. however they escaped into the forest. A combing operation had been launched, the official said.

A fire arm and naxal literature was recovered from the spot, he said.
