Panaji, Nov 13 (UNI) The NGO Utt Goenkara today demanded a judicial inquiry into the mega scam, relating to allotment of huge tracts of land for the proposed Special Econmic Zones (SEZ), to bring to book the ''masterminds''.
Its spokesman Aires Rodrigues told mediapersons that Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat should not ''shoulder, shield or take responsibility of his precedessor Pratapsingh Rane's sins''.
The proposed SEZs, he said, were a ''planned fraud'' on Goans by former chief minister Rane. The SEZs and the now scrapped Goa Regional Plan-2011 were the ''biggest scams that any government had hatched in Goa's post liberation history'', he alleged.
''Stand by aam aadmi(common man) and scrap the SEZs even if it costs him his chair,'' the social activist told Kamat.
The government, in future, should consult and take into confidence all political parties and NGOs before taking any decision with far reaching consequences on Goa, Mr Rodrigues added.
It might be recalled that several political parties and non-political groups gave different deadlines to chief minister (November 17 and 20) for scrapping/freezing the SEZs.
They had threatened to launch a state-wide agitation if the government failed to oblige, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the coalition partner of the government, joined the chorus with the groups against SEZs saying they were anti-Goan.
