Kathakali musician Sankaran Embranthiri passes away

Kochi, Nov 13 (UNI) Noted Kathakali musician Sankaran Embranthiri passed away at a hospital in Aluva near here this morning.

He was 63.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Family sources said he was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathlessness and uneasiness.

The funeral is expected to take place this evening.

Sankaran Embranthiri had served as a teacher at FACT Kathakali School for 25 years.

He continued to perform even after undergoing a renal transplant in 2003.

He was a recipient of several awards, including the 'Swathi Puraskaram' awarded by the Kerala government.
