Instable neighbours, IAF ready to face any eventuality

Shillong, Nov 13 (UNI) Commander-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command Air Marshal P K Barbora today said the Indian Air Force was well prepared to face any hardship.

''We are prepared to meet any eventuality arising out of the spill over effects of political instability in our immediate neigbouring countries,'' Air Marshal Barbora told mediapersons at the Eastern Air Command headquarters here.

''There is severe political crisis in Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and even in Nepal, but we are ready to tackle any situation arising ot of the instability in these neighbouring countries, he said.

''We have gone in for massive longterm infrastructures in the Eastern sector. New weapon systems are being placed in and airfields, including Tezpur and Jorhat, were being strengthened for landing of Sukhoi MKI jet fighters,'' Air Marhal Barbora revealed.

He said more Hawks-Advanced Jet Trainers would be ordered from the United Kingdom for the Kalaikunda air base under Eastern Air Command. Yesterday, two Hawks have already landed at IAF station at Bidar in North Karnataka.
