HC stays arrest of LDA former vice chairman, secretary

Lucknow, Nov 13 (UNI) The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has put a stay on the arrest of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) former vice-chairman and secretary on charges of gross irregularities in development works during 2006.

Justices Abdul Mateen and S C Nigam passed the order today, while hearing a PIL, filed by LDA's former vice-chairman B B Singh and secretary Ramvilas Yadav, challenging the charges against them.

The petitioners had challenged the validity of the FIR, filed against them at Gomti Nagar police station by LDA executive engineer Trilok Nath on November 2.

The bench had ordered the LDA for clearance of grass when dengue had gripped the city in 2006.

Following which, the then officials were charged with irregularities.
