Billiards world champpion Rupesh to get cash award
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) The Railway Ministry today announced a cash award of Rs two lakh to Rupesh Ashwinbhai Shah, a railway employee, as a mark of recognition for his becoming the new billiards world champion.
Incidentally, Rupesh won the crown by defeating Ashok Harishankar Sandilaya, who is also employed with the Railways.
The award was announced by Railway Board Chairman K C Jena for Rupesh's ''outstanding sports achivement and for becoming the new billiards world champion.'' The World Billiards Championship was organised by International Billiards and Snooker Federation in Singapore during September 5-14.
Fourteen countries participated in the championship.
