Ban on sale, publication of holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib by pvt bodies

Amritsar, Nov 13 (UNI) The district administration has imposed a ban on the sale and publication of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib by private organisations with immediate effect till December 8.

However, the prohibitory orders will not affect the work of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committeee and those insititutions approved by it in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Kahan Singh Pannu said in a press release issued here today.

Justifing the decision to impose restrictions, the Deputy Commissioner said that ways and means adopted by private publishers were hurting the religious sentiments of people which amounted to provocation and had its impact on law and order situation.

Meanwhile, a leading publishing house termed these orders as a deep rooted consipracy to close down their business which they were doing since 19th century before the existance of SGPC.
