Abu Salem brought to Bhopal in passport case

Bhopal, Nov 13: Underworld don Abu Salem was brought here by train from Mumbai this morning for his production before a local court in a fake passport case, in which his companion Monica Bedi had already been acquitted.

He was brought here amid tight security and from Habibganj station he was driven straight to the district court where he will be produced later in the day.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajay Shrivastava had earlier issued production warrant to Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail Superintendent in September for Abu Salem's production in the fake passport case, in which his wife Rubina Beg and Monica Bedi were among five accused.

A case was registered against the trio and two local associates for issuing passports in assumed names from the local passport office in 2001 .

Monica Bedi, who was extradited along with Abu Salem from Portugal, spent few months in Bhopal jail and was later acquitted by the local court three months ago.
