Woman, granddaughter killed for failure to pay Rs 1,300

Narsinghpur (MP) Nov 12: A woman and her granddaughter were stabbed to death early today, while another granddaughter was seriously injured for their failure to pay Rs 1,300 at Lalatola village near here, police said.

Shanti (60) was supposed to pay the amount towards hiring tractor about 15 days back.

She was sleeping in her hut in a farm along with her granddaughters Parvati (11) and Bhagvati (12) when tractor driver Mukesh entered the hut and attacked them.

Shanti and Parvati died on the spot, while Bhagvati was seriously injured and admitted to the district hospital.

Mukesh was arrested.

Police sources said tractor drivers were responsible for lending tractor and collecting money. Investigations were underway about the role of tractor owner in the incident.
