Two women nabbed in sex-racket cum extortion case

Moga, Nov 12 (UNI) Police here has arrested two women for their alleged involvement in the infamous sex-racket-cum-extortion case, which was registered here on April 18 this year.

Both the women, Manjit Kaur Deep and Manpreet Kaur of Barsal Village of Jagraon police district were today produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, who sent them into police remand for two days.

According to SSP Moga, L K Yadav, both the women were arrested near Khuian Sarwar village near Abohar yesterday while they were traveling in a Bus coming from Ganganagar. After informimng Abohar police, Moga Distt police brought them to Baghapurana last night.

The SSP further revealed that both the women were allegedly involved in a conspiracy with two other police officals of whom Inspector Amarjit Singh has been arrested while the other, Sub Inspector Raman Kumar who was absconding, was dismissed from service on October 30.

The SSP said that sensational disclosures were expected during interrogation of the women who, along with the police officials, were charged of extorting huge money from innocent people by first foisting a ''rape case'' and then assuring them of being spared from prosecution in exchange of money.

One such case was registered on the complaint of Manpreet Kaur under various sections of the IPC including kidnapping, intimidation and committing rape.

Manpreet Kaur, along with Majjit Kaur, also lodged another case with Baghapurana police against six persons including one Ranjit Singh alleging that the accused attempted to ''kidnap her out of vendetta'' as she had named them in her first rape case.

But an inquiry by ADGP Punjab, law and order, found that the case was incorrect and case of extortion of Rs. 50,000 from Ranjit Singh by inspector police Amarjit was registered.
