Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) Castigating the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, principal opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) today censured 'insult' to cricket lovers at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur yesterday, where ticket holders to the India-Pakistan One Day International face-off were reportedly barred from entering the stands in black attires.

''Such an incident did not happen even during Emergency,'' party's state unit spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said addressing a news conference here this evening.

He alleged that spectators were even stripped of their black socks.

''Besides, the gates of the stadium and the seats had been painted in blue,'' he added.

Blue is the party colour of the ruling BSP in UP. Chief Minister Mayawati also graced the post-match ceremony at the Green Park and doted Team India players from UP Rudra Pratap Singh and Piyush Chawla, the SP leader said.

''The imprudent and indecisive Mayawati regime is making thin of all the democratic values and treading the path of destruction,'' Mr Chaudhary noted.
