Court remands 70-year-old woman to judicial custody

Mumbai, Nov 12 (UNI) A local court today remanded a 70-year-old woman, booked for possessing one kg of brown sugar, to Judicial custody till November 22.

Police had earlier arrested Bibijan Abdul Karim alias Kubdi Maussi from her residance near Tulsi Wadi in south-central Mumbai along with her accomplice Arif Ansari and recovered one kg of brown sugar and 40 gm of cocaine, collectively worth over Rs one crore in the international market.

The duo was booked under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced before the local Girgaum court, which today remanded them to judicial custody.

With their arrest, the police claimed that they had broken the vicious and close knit racket of drug peddlers in the metropolis.

According to sources, police would move an application before the higher court challenging the grant of judicial remand to duo on the grounds that the investigation was on and during the investigation both of them had revealed the names of other associates involved in the racket.
