Orissa Governor to witness fleet exercise at Paradip on Nov 17

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (UNI) The Indian Navy will conduct a fleet exercise on November 17 off the Paradip coast as part of the Navy week celebrations.

The Navy celebrates December four as the Navy day every year and the first week of December as the Navy week.

This year, INS Chilika had chalked out a month-long programme from November three to December eight to celebrate the week.

Navy sources said as part of the programme, Orissa Governor Murlidhar Chandrakar Bhandare would be embarking on tne ship ''Jalashwa'' on November 17, spend a day at sea and watch the naval exercise.

Search and rescue operations demonstration by Naval helicopters, slithering operations by Marine Commandos, jack stay between ships, simultaneous Anti-Submarine Warfare rocket firing by destroyer ships, dunking Sonar demo by helicopters and close-range anti-aircraft firing would be demonstrated by the Naval personnel during the exercise.

The Governor would be received by Vice-Admiral Raman P Suthan, flag officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, the sources said.
