Vriddhachalam-Salem BG section thrown open for traffic

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 9 (UNI) Rail traffic on the newly converted Vriddhachalam-Salem broad gauge section commenced yesterday, with the running of a goods train.

A Southern Railway release here said the goods train, named Steel City, was proceeding to the Bhilai Steel Plant from the goods shed here with 20 empty wagons. It left Vriddhachalam at 1020 hrs yesterday and reached Salem at 1425 hrs, the release added.
