Lucknow, Nov 9 (UNI) The resignation of Uttar Pradesh food processing Minister Anand Sen Yadav was today accepted, following charges in the much hyped 'Shahsi abduction case' of Faizabad.

Governor T V Rajeswar has accepted the resignation of the Minister from the Mayawati cabinet, sources said.

Mr Yadav had tendered his resignation to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, following the allegations by the victim's father into the case.

Talking to UNI Mr Yadav said he had taken the decision to resign on moral grounds.

''Though I am clean on the issue, but I have tendered my resignation to prevent political stir in the state by the opposition'', he said.

The Minister had come under the umbrella of suspicion, after one Vijay Sen Yadav, said to be his relative, was found involved in kidnapping of a LLB, 3rd year student of Saket Degree College -- Shashi -- in Faizabad on October 22.

The issue had also rocked the state assembly with Leader of the Opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav alleging that the Minister was involved in the crime and the state government was protecting him.
