Turkish national, security guard held at Kakinada port

Kakinada, AP, Nov 9 (UNI) The Marine police today arrested a Turkish national when he was roaming in Kakinada town in East Godavari district without a 'shore pass'.

The Marine police arrested Mahmet Surucu based on a complaint by the Captain of a Turkey ship, which was called at the Kakinada deep water port for shipping iron ore, that one of its crew members was missing since the last two days, police said.

The accused had gone outside the port without a shore pass, issued by the port authorities for foreigners.

Security Guard K Shatragnudu, who had helped surucu, was also arrested for allowing him to go outside without a pass.

Investigations revealed that Surucu had spent five hours in a lodge in Kakinada.

The duo were later remanded to custody.
