Naxal movements contained in TN: Addl DGP
Salem, Nov 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) K Vijayakumar today said naxal movements in the state had been contained.
Talking to newspersons here after a law and order review meeting with senior officials, he said. ''We are in a good position in tackling naxalite movements in the state''.
He said the Special Task Force (STF), in coordination with ''Q'' branch police dealing with extremists and terrorists, were keeping a vigil to thwart any naxal activities in the state.
The STF and Q branch police were keeping a vigil in the entire hill areas, right from Pallipet in Vellore district to Keeriparai in southern Nagercoil.
If necessary the STF and Q branch would launch joint operation to wipe out the naxal menace, he said.
To a question, he said a special team, headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, had been formed to provide round the clock protection to Mettur Dam.
