Nationwide BSNL stir on Dec 12

Kozhikode, Nov 9 (UNI) State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will go on a nation-wide strike on December 12 to press their demands, including five time-bound promotions, implementation of pay anomaly committee report and regularisation of ad-hoc workers.

The decision was taken by the joint platform of BSNL Non-Executive Employees Unions, its General Secretary V A N Namboodiri told reporters here today.

Prior to the all India stir, the employees would observe a ''fast on duty'' throughout the country on November 21, he said.

Stating that the employees were in favour of a negotiated settlement of their long pending demands, he urged the Government to initiate dialogue on the issue to avoid industrial unrest.
