Meghalaya govt announce Rs 8 lakh as ex-gratia for late DSP's wife
Shillong, Nov 9 (UNI) Meghalaya government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 8 lakh for the next of kin of DSP Raymond Philip Diengdoh, who was killed in an enouncter with HNLC militant at Paham Umdoh, Ri-Bhoi district on November 7.
Announcing this in the presence of high police officials at a condolence meeting held at police headquarters here yesterday, Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang said Saphi Blah, wife of the slain police officer, would be given his full month's salary till the date of his retirement from service.
''We have lost a very precious friend. We have been trying to create a cordial condition for peace and tranquility and in the process of meeting this objective, we have lost a brave police officer.'' Mr Lapang added.
Late Diengdoh's body would be cremated later today.
