4 members of family drowned to death in suicide pact

Anand, Gujarat, Nov 9 (UNI) In a suicide pact, four members of a family were drowned to death while the fifth was saved by fire brigade personnel after the parents, along with their three children, jumped into the Narmada Canal at Lambhvel village near here today.

Among the dead were the three children and their father, while the mother had been saved. The family hailed from Uttarsanda village, about ten km from here.

Police said that from preliminary investigations, it appears poor financial conditions might have driven the family to enter the suicide pact.

The deceased have been identified as Parshottam Mohanbhai Thakore (35), his son Jitendra (5) and daughters Kinjal (10) and Priyanka (3).
