Vijayawada, Nov 8 (UNI) Highlighting the farmers problems in the country and asking the Centre to hike MSP of paddy to Rs 1,000 per quintal on par with wheat, the intended third front UNPA will organise 'rythu garjana' (farmers' roar) stir in the city on November 24, TDP General Secretary Kadiam Srihari said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said about ten lakh farmers would participate in the agitation. UNPA leaders N Chandrababu Naidu, Mulayam Singh Yadav and others would also take part, he added.

Mr Srihari demanded the UPA at the Centre and the Andhra Pradesh government to implement the recommendations of eminent agriculturist scientist M S Swaminathan committee, which had been constituted by the Centre.

If the recommendations were implemented, the farming community would benefit to a larger extent, he claimed.

The TDP leader charged that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government had totally failed to address the problems of the farmers in the state.

The Centre should also hike the MSP of other crops like maize, groundnut and sugarcane, he added.
