Postal stamps worth lakhs found in Nashik Dist
Nashik, Nov 8 (UNI) Postal stamps, worth lakhs of rupees, were today recovered from Mundagaon area of Ghoti taluka in the district.
According to police, the stamps were found thrown away in the backwater of Darna dam near Mundgaon area on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway. A local journalist informed the police about the stamps.
The stamps must have been thrown in the water 2-3 days ago.
They were almost wet and of no use. The exact cost of these stamps will be known after inspection by experts. These will be sent to Nasik Post Office for further examination, Arun Bhor, a police oficial attached to the Ghoti Police Station told UNI.
''At present, we don't know whether these stamps are real or fake,'' Mr Bho said, adding they could be worth at least Rs 15-20 lakh.
Further investigations were on.
