Police yet to recover body of Shashi

Lucknow, Nov 8 (UNI) Police investigation into the much-hyped Sashi Prasad abduction case is yet to make any progress even as the Uttar Pradesh government is awaiting a formal acceptance from the CBI to take up the case.

Police have no recovered the body of the dalit girl who went missing from Faizabad on October 22 for which state Food Processing Minister Anand Sen Yadav had to resign from the Mayawati Ministry on Tuesday last.

Inspector General of Police(Lucknow Zone) A K Jain said here today that police was investigating the case and efforts were on to recover the body of the girl, allegedly murdered by Vijay Sen Yadav, driver of the former minister.

The IG said the government was waiting for the formal acceptance from the CBI to take over the case. '' We are expecting the CBI to take up the case very soon,'' he said.

He also said Faizabad police will plea in the court for further remand of the main accused Vijay this evening. The police remand of Vijay expires this evening.

Meanwhile, another accused against whom FIR has been registered in the case -- Seema Azad is said to be missing since November 2 after the case was highlighted in the media. Vijay is the other person against whom FIR has been lodged.

Police has already announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for giving any clue on the missing girl.
