Shillong, Nov 8 (UNI) Meghalaya's Commission of State Women's Organisation (CSWO) today condemned the attack by the HNLC on the police in Ri-Bhoi district which resulted in the killing of Deputy Superintendent of Police Raymond P Diengdoh yesterday.

The CSWO has also sent its condolences to the bereaved family.

''The leaders of the militant group are misguiding the youth to take up guns and there seems to be a nexus of politicians and NGOs with the insurgent group,'' the CSWO said in a statement issued here.

It also urged businessmen, allegedly paying money to the outfit, to be responsible and accountable to the society.

''If businessmen pay money to the militant outfit, they are indirectly encouraging terrorism which is setting a bad trend for future generations,'' the CSWO said. ''It is high time the public to join hands with the government and the police to wipe out militancy,'' it added.

The CSWO also urged the ultras to come to the negotiating table.
