US delegation of Speakers and Senators calls on Badal

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) A five-member US delegation of Speakers and Senators led by Ms Donna Stone, representative from Delware, today met Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and expressed keenness to further strengthen the bilateral relations between India and the US.

Ms Stone during the meeting with the Chief Minister here at latter's residence said such visits would help in exploring new avenues in the field of education, health care, human resource development and technological upgradation of agriculture and industry.

Ms Stone invited the Chief Minister to lead a delegation of the speaker alongwith the legislators to understand the political system prevalent in their country.

She also asked Mr Badal to depute technological mission from Punjab to USA to combat the emerging challenge from the problems of degradation of environment due to the global warming.

Taking part in the deliberations, Mr Badal said, ''Such visits provide a healthy platform to the legislators to understand the political system of a particular country with reference to other organs of judiciary executive and media.'' UNI
