Govt will suppress all kinds of violence: Kerala Home Minister

Kannur, Nov 6 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said the government would suppress all kinds of violence in the district.

Talking to mediapersons after visiting the sensitive areas here, he said the government would not allow any kind of violence and the police was fully equipped to handle any kind of situation.

Top police officials including Northern IG A Hema Chandran, Kannur SP Mathew Policarp and a large number of police were camping in the area in view of tense situation and had taken all precautionary measures to prevent violence from spreading into other areas, he said.

The Minister said two companies of police had been deployed additionally in Thalasserry to control the tension between the CPI(M) and BJP.

Mr Balakrishnan said the RDO had been asked to convene a meeting of the BJP and CPI(M).

As many as ten party workers of the CPI(M) and BJP were injured in various political clashes between the two parties during the past few days in the district.

Meanwhile, the hartal called by the CPI(M) in Thalasserry to protest against the murder of a party sympathiser passed off peacefully.
